Privacy Policy

Draft document This reflects how the app currently works, but hasn't been reviewed by a lawyer yet. It should be finalized by legal counsel before public launch.

What we collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address. When you build your profile, we store what you choose to share: your name, age, bio, storytelling prompt, and the intents you select (Romance, Activity Partner, Friendship). We also store the messages you send, the events you create or RSVP to, and your verification status.

What we don't collect

We don't track your location, and we don't access your contacts, photos, or other apps on your device beyond what you explicitly upload to your profile.

How we use your information

Your profile information is used to show you to other members (once verified) and to show you potential introductions. Your messages are delivered only to the people you're messaging. We don't use your data to train other products or sell it to third parties.

Services that process your information on our behalf

To provide certain features, some information is sent to trusted service providers, only for the purpose of that feature:

Persona — your ID and a live selfie are sent to Persona to verify your identity.
Google Cloud Vision — profile photos are sent to Google Cloud Vision to check for and remove explicit content.
Google Cloud Translation — chat messages and call captions are sent to Google Cloud Translation so you can communicate across languages.
Daily.co and Deepgram — voice and video calls are routed through Daily.co and transcribed by Deepgram to power in-app calling and live captions.

These providers process this information to deliver the feature you're using — they don't use it to build unrelated products.

Who can see what

Other members only see your profile once you're verified — never your raw identity documents. Your messages are only visible to you and the person you're messaging. Blocking someone immediately prevents them from seeing your profile or messaging you.

Where your data lives

Your data is stored with Supabase, our database provider, and protected by row-level security rules that restrict who can read or write each piece of information — enforced by the database itself, not just the app.

Your choices

You can edit or remove most profile information at any time from Profile > Edit Profile. You can deactivate your account from Profile > Account, which immediately hides your profile from other members.

Children's privacy

YearsAhead is intended for adults 50 and older and is not directed at anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from minors.

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE): any such content is removed as soon as we become aware of it, the account involved is permanently banned, and confirmed CSAM is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant law enforcement as required by law. Concerns can be reported in-app or to our child safety point of contact at safety@yearsahead.app.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to how we handle your information, we'll do our best to let you know.
